Let me start by saying I think I had a one-off experience. The service was good, nice atmosphere, the ceviche was solid, the glass of wine was fine but the short ribs with mashed potatoes were almost not edible. I think another case of the chef not tasting what he's cooking. The main was so heavily salted all the way around I should have sent it back. The only two desserts I was interested in they didn't have. One of which the server said they haven't had in awhile. Ok so these are paper menus spit out by a home printer. Don't be so lazy and take it off the menu. I think I might give it another try if I happen to be in the area, maybe.

Went here on a whim after other brunch plans fell through. It was almost a dozen of my lady friends (bach party) and other patrons eating delicious breakfast scrambles and sandwiches (FRUBANS!), cheese/meats, and drinking bottomless mimosas (Sunday Brunch ONLY Special?) Due to Miami being off season, they were not staffed fully (people and ingredients) so it took a very long time. They truly couldn't handle the capacity and/or keep up with our requests but we take blame for not calling HOURS ahead. The cafe itself is small but with plenty of seating. The kitchen is a tiny loft area overlooking the dining room and it was my first time seeing a dumbwaiter in action! Pretty cool stuff! The service was good..considering that it took a long time/things were forgotten but I did appreciate that they acknowledged and was apologetic for the delay/service. Our waiter was very nice and sincere and took care of us very well. I started to feel bad because he felt so bad... his name began with an H. In short, I would go back and recommend this place to others. Phenomenal food and coffee!

This is my second bad experience here. This place should be avoided. Took absolutely forever to get water, to order, to receive the food, to get more water, and also to get the check. The food sucked. The eggs for the Benedict were over poached, and the bread was too hard. Won't be coming back.

Came here a couple weeks ago for Brunch (Labor Day weekend 2015) as part of a bachelor weekend in Miami. We called ahead and made the reservation for 12 but only 11 of us made it. They were ready for us when we arrived. This was a nice, small family restaurant that could maybe have had 5 other tables in there. We were a big group but Giuseppe and his wife, whose name I didn't get, were very warm and hosted us greatly. I believe their son Fanchesco, not to be confused with "Francisco," was our waiter. We chose this place because of their bottomless brunch offer which featured a couple things from a preset menu and unlimited Mimosa for 2 hours for $40. This is a pretty great deal. Giuseppe let us order off of the regular menu and still participate in the brunch deal. They even started us off with some complimentary avocado bruchetta, which was delicious. All of the food was delicious, the chef and kitten staff were excellent. The kitchen was located in a loft type area above the restaurant which looked really cool. They had an old style exposed dumbwaiter that transported some things from up there down to us. It was very cool. At the end of our meal we shouted up to them to thank them for their hard and delicious work. The mimosas certainly kept flowing, as soon as we finished a pitcher a new one was there for us. They were strong too, made with some quality champagne not some cheap stuff. Giuseppe even let me connect my phone to the speaker system via bluetooth so that we could play some tunes while we ate. We had a great time and very very thankful for the food and hospitality. I will certainly go back next time I'm in Miami.

Announcing the arrival of a new food baby! Parents are Sharon W. and Cafe Mistral! I came here on Saturday with 2 friends after Floatopia. We were going to go to Big Pink but the line was outrageous and Larry S. mentioned he heard good things about this place so we gave it a go. We were in that weird "linner" time frame between lunch and dinner, so we had the place (which is so charming!) to ourselves. The waiter (didn't get his name, but he had a shaved head and a soul patch) was awesome! He mentioned up front that he did not get several expected deliveries on Friday, so many food items were not available. One of the missing deliveries was carbon, so no tap beer either. No matter, we had 2 delicious bottles of French red and thoroughly enjoyed! We started with the avocado toast, 4 wedges of toasted Zak the Baker bread, topped with avocado slices and drizzled with a balsamic reduction and garnished with a tangle of mesclun. Heaven! I was dubious about the hype around ZtB and his yeast-y wares, but there is no hype. It's straight up phenomenal bread. I pity the Paleo people who will not get to experience it. We next had the Angus sliders, the "Fruban" (a Cuban sandwich with a French accent) and the nicoise salad. The sliders came with some roasted potatoes and one of the sandwiches came with a side of the most delicious stone ground mustard. The salad was enormous and refreshing and I am ashamed that I ate all of it. We finished up with the pear cake and the cheesecake. Both were warm, which was unusual for a cheesecake but it was totally mouthwatering! Both also were garnished with very sweet strawberries and enormous blueberries! Wow! Cafe Mistral is true gem - reasonably priced, delicious food, a small wine list with a modest mark up and of course, most importantly, fantastic service!

For Europeans this is the right place. Quality instead of quantity. We started with delicious cooked clams with rose wine. Then the taste took us different ways. Two went for fish, salmon and the catch of the day, and one desired for well cooked meat. The fish was accompanied with suburb white wine and the meat with a full body red wine from montepulcianio. Then a classical espresso coffee and Greek chocolate coffee dessert. We would highly recommend this

Tiny sandwich for $12. Sure, it was ok for ham, bread and swiss with a few tiny pickles. But nothing to write home about. Won't be back.

Yummy, French, Adorable. Service was... French (slow) but if you have nowhere to be on a Sunday morning... that's okay. The eggs benedict were a hit on the fruit/nut bread.

Went here for Brunch. Lovely place, nice location... pet-friendly. Staff is cool and attentive...they make the difference. Their coffee is great, unlike most miami restaurants they differentiate between latte, capuccino and cafe con leche. The food is excellent... atleast the breakfast. Not exp3nsive but miderate... I mean an egg-white omellte with spinach is $14. Something you can make at home in 3 mins for $2.... but its still good. Their poached eggs and croissants are good too. Their bread is to die for. I will be back to try their dinner menu. Recommended!!

I visited Cafe Mistral 3 times while I was in Miami Beach. I loved the nautical decor, the layout, and the quaint atmosphere. Another thing I very much appreciated about the business was the music. In Miami, it is hard to find a business, whether its a restaurant, doctor's office, or retail store, that ISN'T blasting dance music. Cafe Mistral always has a tasteful collection of eclectic indie rock & new alternative, which serves as a much better backdrop with your morning coffee. The food is great! Fresh, and well-made... my only issue was the service, which was a bit slow. They could have been a bit more prompt with checking in to make sure things were good, and bringing the check. Otherwise, a nice experience, and worth the time, if you are not in a rush.

I loved the fruban, a very interesting mix of Cuban and French cuisine. The spinach salad was great too (fresh). And good espresso

For some reason, there aren't many French cafe's in South Beach. Café Mistral fills that void. The place is located in SoFi, a nice residential neighborhood in South Beach that is mostly overlooked by tourists. A co-worker recently recommended this place, so a friend and I decided to give it a try. We visited the place late in the morning. The café was almost empty, which was good because we had no trouble finding a table by the window. They also have outdoor seating. The place is nicely decorated and has a good feel to it. I found it interesting that the food is prepared up on a ledge, high above the restaurant floor. For lunch, we ordered a couple of sandwiches. I ordered the prosciutto and mozzarella and my friend ordered the turkey and brie. Both of these sandwiches were delicious. I found the price is right for the quality of food they prepare. I will definitely visit Café Mistral again.

We had our friend's bachelorette brunch at this place while visiting Miami last weekend. Food was yummy, service was great, and place is super cute! Loved the bottomless mimosas :-)

We can't believe this place!!! What a gem on Miami Beach!!! The manager was so attentive and gracious. She made us feel as if we were in her home. She pointed us in all the right directions for our visit. The place is beautifully decorated, the food is homemade and top notch. The music is perfect selected by the owner himself. Service is friendly. We can't say enough about this quaint and elegant cafe!!! Have the croque Monsieur and the tuna sandwich!!! Thank you Cafe Mistral and Ms. Ellen!!!

This place is absolutely charming. The atmosphere was like a little cafe in Europe. The French toast was tasty and served with a generous helping of fresh berries. Mimosas and espresso available to round out the perfect brunch.

I went to there with 4 friends to have breakfast. We ordered poached eggs, french toast, spinach white egg omelette, and eggs Benedict. We all enjoyed our breakfast. Service was slow, but the place has a nice ambiance. If you like your coffee with milk, ask for warm milk.

What a nice find! It's a quaint cafe with a simple menu of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, and desserts. I'm a sucker for croissants so I went with the prosciutto and manchego croissant sandwich with a side salad. They were generous with the sandwich ingredients so that made me happy and the salad dressing was delicious. For dessert, my eyes were set on the banana bread pudding. It took them quite a while to bring out which led me to believe that it was made to order but I think it was worth the wait. It's definitely not an overly sweet dessert but it tastes fresh and true to the ingredients. They have an open kitchen on the second floor, which I found to be cool. The decor of the place is very nice as is the staff. I can't wait to go back for lunch or an after-work beer.

Excellent little hidden gem!!! Was browsing on places near by to eat lunch and wanted something healthy, came across a Niçoise salad. I came in ordered it and it was far better than I imagined. The place is small but nice they have outside seating. The bar is perfect if you're by yourself. Definitely recommend this place to everyone!!

I love Mistral Cafe. Though I agree with other reviewers that the service is a little slow. I think, they are very understaffed. On the weekends they can have up to 10 tables and one waiter. The business owner, probably, should think about hiring one more weekend waiter. The food is good. However the service is superb when Norberto is there. He is attentive, friendly and funny! The other waiter on weekends is terrible. He smells, he is rude, he seems out of the place. My recipe for first time visitors: bottomless mimosa + fresh cruasan + poached eggs on Zak's bread + Norberto! :)

I'm a big fan of this place. The food is always impeccable. The service is great. Love the cozy atmosphere. The brunch is fabulous as is their coffee drinks. Nice little outdoor dining area and pet friendly. I recommended the mama's pasta. So rich but very yummy.

Obsessed with this place! What an awesome little cafe. The owner and the management here are on top of their game. Not only did we have the best service, but they actually joined our table at a certain point. We were given free bottles of champagne to celebrate our beautiful birthday girl, free desert and fabulous food. The food here is awesome. Don't mistake the little cafe for drink only type place. The establishment itself, is so cute, I felt like I was in a real french cafe in Paris. I highly recommend swinging by here for a bite to eat one night or even a cup of coffee during the day. There is nothing not to love. What we got: the salmon was awesome

More like a 4.5 Came here for lunch w my partner in crime and Rocco. This cafe recently opened and still working on a permanent menu and outdoor seating. We ordered to go since we brought our dog. (They will prob b adding some outdoor seating in the future) This is a nice change to the other sandwich/salad cafes in the vicinity that seem to be more on the chain/generic side. Cafe Mistral seems to be striving for home made, fresh, quality, and originality. Menu consists of fresh made sandwiches and salads as well as breakfast items such as eggs Benedict and french toast. A bit of a mutt this cafe is fusing french and cuban cuisine alike. Take their specialty the "Fruban"a french take on the classic cuban sandwich the media noche. As a vegetarian i opted for the Jardin- lettuce, tomato, avocado and sprouts on a freshly made baguette drizzled with a french dressing (similar to the french dressing at sandwich SIMILAR NOT EXACT) I opted to add cheese for an extra charge. I chose the wonderful manchego cheese...it came with a side of sping mix salad. To be honest i was afraid that taking it to go i took the risk of coming home to a soggy lunch- Luckily, that was not the case. I was pleasantly surprised i did not feel the need to add anything to it (which i usually do) the bread was extremely fresh and tasty. Crunchy crust on the outside and soft in the inside. toppings were perfectly portioned and well balanced. The dressing accompanied it perfectly. My partner in crime opted for the buffalo tomato salad- which was tasty but i feel would have tasted better if we had eaten there- the 5 minute walk in the summer did not help the buffalo mozzarella in his salad. It was still yummy and we did enjoy that the salad was dressed with small heirloom tomato in different colors. I am glad we ordered a fresh baguette to go, because it was delicious. Sandwiches and salads run from 9-17$. Fair price for the fresh and high quality ingredients. And for my soda fans...Instead of regular coca cola- they have the Mexican version: also have local beers. Diff types of fresh baked breads- I rate the bread 5 stars.

A delightful neighborhood gem! Tonight it was a bit chilly on the Beach and we stopped in for a hot bowl of soup with a prosciutto and Brie melt, tasty and a bargain at $12, chased with two pints of Wynwood Brewery Pop's Porter. Life is good. Pop's Porter won Gold at the Great America Beer Festival for Robust Porter, go Luis!!! Only complaint, the tab for two with good tip because the service was excellent came to $56. Drop the price of wine by $2/glass and the price of Porter by $2/pint and we will visit more than once a week. But all-in-all 2 thumbs up and 5 estrellas!

I wanted to love this place given its proximity to my home and cute, local ambience but it was just okay. Service was somewhat erratic and everyone's dishes were good but not great. I think for the price it is a little weak. Hopefully with time they up their wow factory.

Upscale food in an easy environment and extremely easy on the pockets. The food is ridiculously good. The short ribs were Amazing... Grass fed beef and cooks at 135 degrees for 2 days. Never in my life have I had meat this tender. And the kale Caesar salad was really good. Overall this place was great and sooo inexpensive for the quality and service. If I could give it 10 stars I would.

Should have left after the waiter/ bartender could not make two cappuccinos. If their goal was to get everything wrong they succeeded. Country Breakfast: Eggs cold and served over easy, I ordered sunny-side up. Potatoes under-cooked and cold Ham cold Toast under done, no jam or butter. My wife ordered Kale with shrimp. They delivered spinach with nuts, (btw, my wife is allergic to nuts) Kale has no nuts on salad. Not worth the carbs, had manager cancel salad and gladly payed bill to get out. Avoid at all costs.

A few doors down from our disastrous attempt to get a quick bite at a place called Sandwich Qbano we found ourselves at what would be the dining highlight of our trip to Miami Beach, Café Mistral. As we were being seated we asked if it was possible to get a quick bite only to find out that they had switched to their evening menu. Not to worry though, the owner graciously offered us anything we wanted from the lunch menu - anything. My wife was delighted with her prosciutto, mozzarella, balsamic vinegar on a baguette and I couldn't have been happier with my avocado on toast. It should be noted that these items were a first for us. We have nothing like this in Myrtle Beach. The total bill was a paltry $22.00. The service and ambience were both excellent. Stop by if you in the area.

I know where I'm eating breakfast on south beach now. Great Michelada, French Toast was perfect, unbeatable location. Nice local spot where you can relax, eat food and get some work done too. The old French bistro feel with French music adds a nice touch.

I visited Café Mistral for lunch, and ordered the turkey brie sandwich on walnut cranberry bread. The sandwich was very tasty and well portioned, with slices of crunchy pear. However, the bread was toasted in a lot of oil, and the oil was used on the outside of the slice. Result, a big mess of greasy fingers. For dessert, I ordered the banana bread pudding. It was good, but incredibly dry, with overpowering spices that didn't let the banana taste come through. I would recommend them to serve it on a bed of creme anglaise, make it a little bit moister, and cut on the spices. All and all nice place, a little bit on the pricey side for lunch.

Dropped in for a coffee while in South Beach. The BEST iced coffee I've ever had. Why go to the overpriced Starbucks at the Marriot when this is right down the street.

As locals we're always looking for the next new place to eat. We found the cute new Cafe Mistral right by the Cosmopolitan. Great neighborhood, cafe feel! The decor is great. Love the tile. Kitchen's upstairs and the food comes down in a little elevator. So cute and different. Great food and reasonably price for the Sofi neighborhood. I had the kale salad with the shrimp. So good and my boyfriend had the short rib which he loved. Justin took care of us. Very professional and great service which we know is hard to find in Sobe. Looking forward to come back and try their breakfast menu.
